ukNQT stands for Nordisk Quilt Träff, which in English would be Nordic Quilt Convention. The national quilting guilds of Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland take turns to arrange a four-day quilt convention every third year. The convention is always held over the Ascension day bank holiday, which this year falls between May 21 and May 24 and will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Each Nordic country will have their own exhibition, and lectures, courses and mini-workshops will be held within the framework of the convention. A large number of quilters from the Nordic countries will fill the city centre during these four days and we hope quilters from other countries will join them too. NQT 2009 will be held in the centre of Gothenburg and there will be sights to see in all directions, all of which are very easy to access by bus, tram, boat or by foot.

Local quilters have also formed a group to ensure interested quilters have the opportunity to see much more around town. Three museums will house quilt exhibitions while three other local groups will also hold exhibitions of their own work at other locations. All of this will take place in the centre of the beautiful city of Gothenburg, with one exception. One exhibition will be held on a small island in the archipelago, Donsö. The island can be reached in just over an hour by public transport, to the mere cost of one bus ticket. A perfect day out.

Some of the blogs will have information in English too. You can reach them through the category link (KATEGORIMOLN) ”in english too” at the bottom right.
